Information and facts about:

Underfloor Heating Systems in South Africa

Underfloor heating is an essential and cost effective addition to any home where the mercury plummits below 5°CClean, efficient, responsive and completely invisible: Speedheat floor heating is installed directly under all types of floor covering including tiles, carpets and timber laminates.

A patented 1 mm-thick design of heating element means that the Speedheat technology is suitable for either new builds or for retro-fitting existing buildings, with many domestic and commercial applications.

This unique 'space-age' design results in an extremely fast response without the additional build-up height as required with other floor heating systems resulting in large savings in installation cost and electricity consumption compared to conventional floor heating systems.

The country-wide Speedheat franchise network ensures quick and professional installation which is fully guaranteed to give you satisfaction and peace of mind.

Installation Teams. Speedheat floor heating is exclusively installed by our well trained and suitably equipped franchise installation teams, which leaves nothing to chance. In order to guarantee satisfaction and to be able to give you a warranty on your installation, we do not offer the product for do-it-yourself installation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Versatile. The system can be installed under any floor surface. Because of it's unique features, the element is installed very close to the floor surface, which reduces the response time considerably. This means that the floor temperature increases typically by 5-8 degrees in the first hour after switching on! This is only possible because the element is only about 1 mm thick!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Insulation & Screeding. On solid floors, the element is usually laid on insulating material, limiting any heat loss to the base. The cable is tested prior to a self-leveling latex screed and polyester mat being applied to secure the element in the floor. This provides a level base for the final floor covering to be laid.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Damage monitoring. Whilst awaiting the final floor covering, monitor boxes are installed to ensure the cable is not damaged prior to final connection. This provides both the customer and floor layer with a level of comfort in the knowledge that should accidents occur, it can be corrected prior to completion of the floor covering.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Screeded heater installation. After the floor has been primed, the screeded heater is stuck to the floor with double sided tape in the required configuration. Afterwards, the heater is covered with a thin layer of a self-leveling latex screed (2-3 mm thick). This screed serves to protect the heating element from possible damage by the floor layer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carpet heater installation. Carpet heating is supplied as pre-formed mats, similar to electric blankets, in a variety of shapes and is laid between the underlay and the carpet. It is suitable for retrofit as carpets can be lifted and re-laid.

The carpet heating can also be installed under loose rugs, as shown in the photograph. The installation under a loose rug is done by fixing it in position means of double sided tape on a thin urethane underlay, and it is possible to install this yourself.

For installation under fixed carpeting, it is better to let the well equipped Speedheat installation teams take care of it.

There are 14 different size heating panels varying from 250 Watt to 900 Watt.
